No Excuses !!!

As my friend, Anne, of  FIONA and TWIG pointed out this morning.....its been 5 weeks since I have posted to my blog.   Anne began her blog about one to two months before me.....now I have 30 followers (which I am very proud of) compared to her over 900 followers.  I must be a total "blog" disgrace to her.  I am so sorry Anne, I will try to spend more time blogging.(as I hang my head down). hahahahaha

I have only 13 days till my family is taking a "mini vacation" to Galveston, Texas.   Although we have been to Galveston many times (my family lives in the area), it will still be great to get away and play tourist for awhile.  To all that have never gone to Galveston, Moody Gardens is a must.  There are 3 large pyramids that enclose a tropical garden, an aquarium and a museum.  Below are some pictures.

This is the steamship that escorts you down the  Galveston Bay.  We usually spend 1 to 2 days here.  Then of course we have to eat at the
RAINFOREST CAFE.
My daughter seems to think that Restaurant is the coolest ever.  I will say it is an experience.  There is also a boat ride inside this restaurant.   I just can't wait.  FUN, FUN, FUN....not to mention the seafood.

Back to work now, but I'll be back soon, renewed and refreshed!

Sold All But One Apron !

I can't believe the week I have had
I had listed about 14 Aprons on etsy (including my Halloween apron) during the past couple of months.  I have only sold 2 so far on etsy...very slow sales.
One of the girls I work with at the Hospital asked me to bring all my aprons (18 total) to work just to look at them.  So here I am, trying to be very cafeful that "bosses" did not see, (we have a NO solicitation rule now), sneaking around each corner......well it was a profitable showing....the girls went crazy, money was being thrown and they were snatching aprons out of each others' hands, and all 18 were sold.

So it looks like I need to get sewing on more aprons.

February Issue of Apron*ology Magazine Finally Here!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I received my mail yesterday.  There it was...."the magazine", I have been waiting for so long.  I thumbed through the pages searching to see my aprons in print.  There they were on pages 60/61 and pages 78/79.  Apron*ology made them look so beautiful.  I guess you can tell that this is the first time I have ever been "in print".  I was so excited.  I called all of my friends to let them know the good news.  My mother ran down to our area book store, but they did not have them out as of yet.  Hastings informed us it would be probably on Monday or Tuesday before the magazine was set out.  Now I am frantically listing all of my new aprons on etsy as fast as I can.  I still have 8 more to list tonite after work.

Here are some pictures of my latest aprons.

Next week I am on vacation for 7 days.  YEAH FOR ME!  Although, I love being a Respiratory Therapist (I hope so since that is what I have been doing for the past 25 years)   I haven't had a vacation since the summer of 2008 and I definately think that this is a well deserved break.    I have no specific plans except  to  sew, sew and sew. (ok, so I might knit a little too.)  Take a look at my Etsy shop.  I hope to have lots of new aprons to choose from.

30 DAYS TIL I SEE MY APRONS IN PRINT!

I am just so excited.  I just located a picture of the new copy of APRON*OlOGY magazine.  Look for it at book stores on February 1st.

I know I should be on "cloud nine" since 2 of my aprons will be featured in this years magazine, but, I have a secret desire...  You see the magazine site always shows a few featured pages of aprons before it hits the newsstand.   I was so wanting one of my aprons to be displayed.  But......no, not even one of them made the lucky cut, sigh,  (slight disapointment).   Okay! so I am a little SPOILED!  There are some very pretty aprons that are shown though.  Take a quick peek on http://www.stampington.com/.  I guess I will have to behave and wait for the next 30 days to see just how everything turns out.

Christmas was great for APRONS this year.  I was selling my aprons as quick as I could make them.  I never had a chance to list them in my etsy store.  (Hence, there are only 3 listed now)   Now I am just sewing like a mad woman.  So keep an eye out for new stock.

Happy Cyber Monday!

Well it wasn't enough that I went shopping on Black Friday....but now comes Cyber Monday!  YAY!!!!    I had an absolute blast on Friday.  My day started at 3am with great anticipation of the first store to open.  I found deals of the Century ,,,,including jewelry, coats,  and wii games.  Here are a few pictures of the Christmas presents that my family bought for me.....ok,,,so I bought them so they can give them to me.  Since I picked out my wonderful presents I can't wait to wear/play with them.   I did eventually stop shopping around 3 pm...just 12 hours...that was pretty good.

Now.....what to shop for today.  There has to be someone that I missed.  Shop, Shop, Shop.  Have fun everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day.  Although I had to work today, my day has been great.  All my patients seem to be in a good mood.  At least the Hospital cooked a Turkey dinner for everyone.  One of my favorite songs during the "Thanksgiving Holiday".   I hope and pray that everyone will have a safe and blessed holiday.

Tune of The More We Get Together the Happier We'll Be

Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkey, fat turkey!

Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkeys are we.

We're not here for living,

We're here for thanksgiving!

Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkeys are we.

Operation Christmas!

Its during this time of year that I try to take a step back; re-evauate my blessed life and remember how important it is to share love and a smile with all of mankind.  I have a great passion and love for Samaritan's Purse and all of the people that volunteer their time and donate money to such a great cause.  Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  Around this time of the year, Samaritan's Purse organizes Operation Christmas.  My family looks forward to this every year.   We collect all types of items throughout the year like small  toys/gifts/school supplies..ect. and place items into a shoe box  for children to enjoy all over the world.  Please visit the site to get more ideas and to see how you can help other people all over the world with such little time, effort and money.  Many churches and other club organizations make this their holiday project.  My church usually has a goal of 250 shoe boxes. Make this your  personal holiday project and make the difference for a child this Christmas.  The web site can also give you the drop off locations.  Be quick though, time is very limited, since collection deadlines are November 16-23rd.

HIP HIP HOORAY!

Well I almost, completely, irreversibly messed up this past weekend.  I was speaking with  my dearest friend Anne from ( Fiona and Twig   By the way, everyone should check out her blog.  She has the most awesome blog ever) on Friday about my September apron submissions to Apron*ology magazine.  We were both wondering when I would be notified with a "yes" or "no".  Well, that is when I got to thinking.......have I checked my email lateley?  So I immediately checked my email and found out that Apron*ology magazine had notified me back on October 5th that they wanted to FEATURE TWO of the three aprons  that were submitted.  They picked the Western and Satin half apron.  Yay!  HIP, HIP, HOORAY!  But there was a catch.  I only had until Novemeber 2nd to get forms filled out and the date was now OCTOBER 31st.  So....I spend Sunday making sure that my t's were crossed and my i's dotted and completed the required paperwork.  I would have just cried my heart out if I would have missed my chance to participate in Apron*ology Magazine.  Now, I can't wait til February 2010 when the magazine comes out.

Never Too Early To Start Shopping For Christmas

I have a online store on ART FIRE site.  ArtFire is very similair to ebay but so much easier to list and with no fees.  Art Fire has developed a new button to help promote "Handmade Gift Giving", (see below)  It is never to early to start shopping for the holidays.  I have always felt so special when I receive a handmade gift.  I realize the time and energy that was spent in making the gift that I receive.  There are so many special artisans that have listed a variety of items for sale on Art Fire.  Take a look.  You might be very suprised.
